ABOUT ME

In Puerto Rico and Liberia, where my roots are planted, food is the centerpiece of every gathering. Whether it’s celebrating special moments or simply enjoying dinner together, the dishes we share hold stories, traditions, and love.
My love for cooking was born at home, and nurtured by my mom from an early age. Growing up, the kitchen was the heart of the home; and the huge table in the middle was where everything happened - homework, reprimands, serious conversations, all while daily meals came to life. Sitting there gave me and my brothers a front-row seat to all the culinary magic, learning the tricks of the trade in real time. Our mom not only shared her recipes but encouraged us to explore and create. We’d experiment with our own versions of family meals, getting on-the-spot guidance as we tested our ideas. Those moments taught us more than how to cook - they taught us creativity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for food as a connection to family and culture.
As I grew older, now cooking in my own home, it became more than just a skill or tradition, but therapy. A quiet moment at the end of a busy day, my way to decompress from stress, or time to indulge in preparing my favorite dishes for the people I love. Cooking has always been a source of joy, comfort, and connection for me; and it’s a pleasure to share with others. Documenting my recipes allows me to preserve the flavors, traditions, and memories that have shaped my life from childhood.
I hope the recipes shared here will turn your meals into stories, moments and new traditions that will continue to bring your family and friends together, no matter where life takes you.
